Panorama Viewing Platforms
Gitschberg Panorama Viewing Platform
A ski area, a 2512m peak, a 360° panorama with 122 important peaks visible. The task was to set up an attraction on the summit of the Gitschberg, in the Gitschberg – Jochtal region.
We decided on an unusual and unique viewing platform which really stimulates the creativity of the observer. The observer gets a 3D representation of that which he can see in front of
him. A complex process of layering makes it possible to physically feel the panorama too. The relatively large scale of the construction enables a high quality telescope to be positioned
in the centre, which the observer can use, free of charge.
Its production, despite the use of digital technology, was a near impossible achievement. The panorama image gained its three dimenisional quality by means of four layers of stainless
steel laid on top of each other, making it easier for the observer to recognise the mountains. The names and heights of the mountains were etched onto the steel plates using the latest
laser cutting technology.
"Steinermandl" Panorama Viewing Platform
A viewing platform was also set up in Vals (1,353m). A 6m x 80cm steel panorama plate was integrated into a 4m x 4m wooden platform right on the summit of the Steinmandl-Kreuz (2,100m).
The 360° view was represented and explained in detail.
